CERNAI works at the meeting point of law, philosophy, and artificial intelligence, and we are glad to involve students who want to think rigorously about reasoning, normativity, and AI.
Theses
We supervise and co-supervise theses (at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level) on topics connected to the centre’s research. Sample directions:
- Rule-following, defeasibility, and exceptions in legal reasoning
- Generics
- Deontic Logic; Truthmaker semantics
- AI alignment, agentic systems, and the EU AI Act
- Reasons-based models of decision and agency
- Liability and accountability for autonomous systems
To propose a thesis, send a short statement of interest and your study record to generic@unipv.it.
Reading group and seminars
CERNAI runs a seminar series open to interested students. Dates and readings are posted under Events.
Internships and research assistance
Advanced students can take part in the centre’s projects through internships and research-assistance roles (curricular or extracurricular, with credit where applicable). Openings are announced under Opportunities; informal expressions of interest are also welcome at any time.
